I kept a diary during my journey through Infertility and wrote in it most days . It became such a huge help in getting the feelings out in a safe and easy way as well as being a useful record of where we had come from .
On one entry , in bright red pen I had written
" I am determined to live each day as fully as possible and not to let this thing rob me of the here and now !! "
I am sure the red writing was written easily and the sentiments , though strong , would be tested to the limits , however , it certainly is true that one of my coping techniques for surviving Infertility was to work hard at living fully in this day and this moment .
Likewise as a child I went through some hugely difficult challenges , and some extremely painful times , and one of the things I found helped me through was to write the simple phrase
" Carpe Diem " / sieze the day
On a piece of paper and pin it to my wall .
When life gets difficult , and really Infertility can test you beyond what seems possible , it can be easy to loose sight of some of the bigger perspectives in your life . The Dreams , passions , ideals that make us who we are .
I was reminded again of this the other day when listening to the radio who were asking for people to ring in with their favourite pieces of wisdom , or life lessons . I remembered again my two key ones at the moment are
" Comfort others with the comfort you receive " from the Bible
and " Your life is an occasion , rise to it " .Mr magoriums wonder emporium !
As I thought about these two sentences , as well as the others mentioned before , I allowed myself a chance to stop and regain a little perspective on what I was doing . To catch sight again of a bigger picture . And in the busyness , stress , and challenges of life , anything that can help us to do that is surely a wonderful thing .
What then would you choose to think about , or to write up on a wall or diary ?
What might help other people too on the ON FERTILE GROUND site ?
Please do get in touch and all best wishes
